Orangeburg County Community of Character is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Mrs. Candace Berry-Vaughn as Executive Director.
Mrs. Berry-Vaughn has been a resident of Orangeburg County for over ten years. She brings substantial experience in organizational leadership, youth development, event planning, and fundraising. As an entrepreneur she provided advice and guidance on business strategies, marketing, and financial management. Through her civic involvement and membership with various non-profits, she has devoted much time to improving the lives of our citizens in Orangeburg County including community outreach and charitable giving. She has served on the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and currently serves as Vice President of the Orangeburg County School District Foundation Board. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; the Orangeburg Chapter of The Links Incorporated; Jack and Jill of America, Inc.; and The Association of Junior Leagues International, Incorporated. Mrs. Berry-Vaughn believes “We are all here to make a difference; to make an impact in our community and to feel good about ourselves for making a difference and an impact. And I’m looking forward to this new role.”
Mrs. Berry-Vaughn will fill the vacancy left when Evelyn Disher took another position earlier this year. Ms. Disher has joined the organization’s Board of Directors.
Dr. Isaiah McGee, President of Orangeburg County Community of Character Board of Directors, shared “"Mrs. Berry-Vaughn has a diverse background and a wealth of experience. We're excited about the creative opportunities she will bring.”
Mrs. Berry-Vaughn is a native of Leesburg, FL and a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She and her husband, Reginald Vaughn, have one son, Nygel.
