“Walls That Speak” is a public-art initiative, launched by the Orangeburg County Community of Character (OCCOC). The project is designed to inspire, educate, and bring the community together through the creation of mural. “Walls That Speak” will transform a blank wall into a vibrant canvas that reflects the shared values, heritage, and aspirations of Orangeburg County.

The Mural will be created at 1361 Event Studio in Orangeburg, SC, where Jennifer Chatman is the property owner.

Our mural kickoff may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re always up to something new and exciting. Check out the coverage of our kickoff event in the T&D.
Ms. Ija Charles of Columbia, SC, has contributed several mural creations to Columbia's mural art scene. Her work can also be seen in the City of Cayce and the Richland Public Library and has been displayed at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Her portfolio includes commissioned pieces for the NFL and the Bob Marley Family for the movie "One Love."
More recently, she was one of five artists commissioned to create artwork displayed at the Netflix film premiere of "Shirley", which highlights the legacy of Shirley Chisholm.
Join us on an exciting artistic journey! Follow along as Ija, our commissioned artist, brings the Orangeburg County Community of Character mural to life downtown, celebrating the vibrant diversity and values of our community.
